I feel we have started many posts recently touting a perfect location for these rainy Brussels nights (*sigh* winter) – but Car Bon is truly a terrific, cozy place for a soul warming meal on a cold, grey evening. Immediately upon entering you are greeted by a lively scene of diners and the smell of authentic Chinese cooking.
We were quickly greeted by a friendly hostess and tucked away at the window bar seats. She gave us a bound book that initially I thought was an in-house cookbook for sale, but then realized was the extensive menu, which included pictures of dish names in multiple languages. We opted to share two starters, two mains, and eventually two desserts (an excellent choice as it allowed to us sample lots), and we left full and satisfied. This was all paired with a hot sake, and green tea.
There were several larger groups sharing hot plates/platters, which seemed a bit much for us at the time. – but I can’t wait to go back with a larger group (4+) to order this! I think it will be a long time until I run out of new and classic Sichuan options to try at Car Bon.
- Extensive menu
- Amazing food, delicious
- Cozy
- The (delicious) smell might stick to your clothing/hair for a while after!
- Deliveries/takeaway situation, vibes
