Fancy (date) night out

Sometimes a celebration calls for an extra fancy dinner, and for when those occasions arise, here are some of our recommendations for a special evening in Brussels.

Normally, we try bars and restaurants several times before we post them as recommendations. However, as the below are rather fancy (not to mention expensive), we only had 1-2 visits per location…! But for most of them, one visit was enough to know they belonged on our list of best fancy night’s out in Brussels!

Brasserie Georges  (below)

Brasserie Georges stands as a beacon of timeless elegance and culinary excellence. As you step through its doors, you’re transported to an era of grandeur—where the art deco interior, replete with gleaming surfaces and soft lighting, sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Here, the menu is a testament to the finest Belgian-French gastronomy.

Emily

Emily, a charming establishment, is conveniently located just off of Avenue Louise. Exuding elegance, this Michelin-starred restaurant occupies a stunning townhouse spread across four exquisitely designed floors. We went several years ago for our anniversary, and despite being half asleep with jet-lag we still often reminisce about our meal there. With a captivating interior and a menu that exudes sophistication, Emily promises a truly memorable dining experience.

Humus x Hortense  (Above)

Humus x Hortense takes vegetarian dining to a whole new level. Each dish is a work of art, meticulously crafting with fresh, organic produce that highlights the natural flavors and diversity of vegetables. The restaurant is the first plant based restaurant in Belgium is receive a Michelin star! The beautiful interior makes it a spectacular setting for a special and unique evening.

Kamo (Above)

Kamo is Brussels’ very own slice of Japanese culinary artistry, distinguished as the first Japanese restaurant in Belgium to be awarded a Michelin star. Located in Ixelles, Kamo offers an authentic experience where the precision and elegance of Japanese cuisine are celebrated. The interior, with its minimalist design, exudes tranquility, setting the perfect stage for the gastronomic performance that awaits. From the delicate sashimi to the intricate sushi rolls, every bite is an invitation to explore the refined depths of Japanese gastronomy. Kamo’s dedication to culinary excellence and the intimate dining experience it offers make it a must-visit destination for connoisseurs and curious diners seeking a unique and memorable meal in the heart of Europe.

Barge (above)

This is a “save the best for last” situation, as Barge is one of the best experiences we have had in Brussels. Located very off the beaten path in just off the canal, Barge is trendy, yet welcoming. You definitely get the Michelin star vibe and sense of quality, however the staff is friendly and approachable. The food is innovative, as well as delicious – for example, we had wasabi sorbet served on an oyster!! We opted for the BOB (half glass of wine) pairing, which was perfect. Barge has made it high up on our list for the next occasion we opt for a fancy night out!
