Just passing Le 203 on Chaussee de Waterloo you immediately get the impression it is a welcoming place for a local meal. The tucked away restaurant front, warm glow, and lack of formal signage gives it a trendy vibe. Le 203 has a lively interior in an intimate setting.
While the restaurant can feel on the fancy side, it is a somewhat casual spot that serves a variety of dishes, including Belgian and French cuisine, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with wooden furnishings, large windows, and a small outdoor seating area.
The website clearly states they do no take reservations, and it is best to get there just before opening at 7 pm if you want a table. Knowing that locals tend to eat on the later side, I figured we would be safe getting there at 6:50. However, upon arrival, there was already a line of 12-15 people waiting for tables! This had me partially excited that we were either in for an awesome meal, or should prepare for a let down after all this hype!
I am very happy to report consistently, the food has been excellent, and totally worth the hype. I love casual spots where reservations are not required and spontaneity is encouraged, but at a place this popular, it felt a bit stressful to need to almost elbow for a spot.
- Great, intimate atmosphere
- Local, seasonal food
- Friendly service
- Having to line up well before 7 is not great
