5 top date spots in Brussels (updated)

As a couple who met in Brussels, and who also spent a lot of time dating in the capital, this is a subject that hits close to home! Finding a good date spot goes hand in hand with date success - we are here to help.

While Brussels is full of decent bars and date spots, finding the right one to make sure the date is the focus of the evening and not rude service, too much noise to have a convo, or any of the other number of things that can kill the mood!

Tarzan and Jane

Tarzan and Jane have a wide selection of natural, ethical wines. Those working there are welcoming and very helpful guiding in choosing the right wine, especially when (like me) you might not know so much about natural wines! With unpretentious waiters, keen to guide you and explain the wines based on your preferences, it is a wonderful spot for an intimate date near tons of restaurants in the area like Car Bon and Voisin.

Brasserie Surrealiste

Brasserie Surrealiste is a bar, brewery, restaurant, concert venue… and much more. The restaurant is tucked away at the back of Place du Nouveau Marche aux Grains, but the impressive view from the street makes it easy to spot. The entryway is a large, yet intimate courtyard bar, open year round. Up a small flight of stairs, and through another floor to ceiling wall of windows is the bustling restaurant.

While online they point out the often the “best nights are the unplanned ones,” and they do not require a reservation for small parties, I would say a reservation is DEFINITELY a good idea if you plan to eat, given the popularity of this place.

Brasserie Georges

Brasserie Georges is one of our top picks in Brussels. It’s on the pricier side, but perfect for those special evenings. When you walk through its doors, you’re transported to an era of grandeur, with an art deco interior featuring gleaming surfaces and soft lighting that creates an unforgettable dining experience. The menu showcases the finest Belgian-French gastronomy. Despite its location on a busy corner, the brasserie boasts a fantastic terrace, ideal for a summer evening.

Bombay BBQ – Brussels

Mission Masala’s Bombay BBQ is a lively and convenient choice, offering excellent vegan and vegetarian options, as well as dishes perfect for sharing. Upon entering, you’ll be enveloped in a fusion of vibrant colors, funky decor, and an eclectic interior. The atmosphere at Bombay BBQ Brussels is truly electrifying, inspired by the dynamic energy of the city. As you savor their delicious Indian cuisine, you’ll be surrounded by an ambiance that perfectly complements the bold flavors and spices of the dishes. Be sure to book in advance, as there are two seatings and reservations fill up quickly!

Royal Puppet Theater Toone

If your date is on the adventurous side/kooky, this bar is a gem hidden away just down a small passage in the most touristy part of Brussels, just next to Grande Place. In reality its not a bar, but a real puppet theatre that, when there are no live performances for kids, sells selected beers and other refreshments.
