We ended up at Wallen rather unexpectedly after bailing on a very disappointing nearby bar and were very pleased by what we found! Upon entry immediately greeted by a friendly waitress, we were promptly given menus. Straight to it; we love that – huuungry!
The drink menu was pretty classic, with a good selection of beers, wines, and some cocktails. However, as it is a Latin American restaurant, we opted for Margarita’s – which did not disappoint! We were brought nicely decorated glasses, and the alcohol in extra, trendy carafes: “dyi, pour your own drinks”. Pretty cool! We may have had several more after that, which potentially explains our overly enthusiastic, yet justified review!
The food menu was extensive with options to make almost all meals vegan/veggie. We got nachos (with sausage and cheese on top, yum!) to share. While maybe not the most authentic (sausage?), the food was definitely delicious and served promptly, despite a rather full restaurant.
The atmosphere is rather casual but cute, homey, making it a sound place if you are looking for something easy in the area, and not a whole heavy Belgian affair. Maybe not the best spot for an intimate date (as the lighting is rather bright) – but definitely a fun one, or coming with the family, group of friends. Nothing better than sharing tacos, which came also “dyi,” just as the Margaritas somehow. (For those looking for more margarita recs – check our guide to the best margarita’s in Brussels here.)
Overall, it is a great place to end an afternoon of exploring the Sablon area. We’d also suggest it as a spot for a drink in the afternoon if you are nearby and need a little pause, or lots of quality food in your day.
- Good service
- Great veggie/vegan options
- Good portions for the extra hungry ones
- Not the most authentic – good to know before you go!
